New Water Main in St Albans

Melbourne Water is installing a new 2.6km water supply main in St Albans. Construction work began in January 2008 and is scheduled for completion in August 2008.

St. Albans Water Supply Main
Why are we installing a new water main?

The work is part of improvements to the St Albans-Werribee water supply system, which will increase the capacity of Melbourne Water's supply system and service the Wyndham growth area, ensuring that we are able to continue to meet Melbourne's water needs well into the future.

Water supply main route

The route of the new main will run from the St Albans Reservoir water tanks on Taylors Road south along Kings and Station roads, and will be built using an open cut method, with a trench being excavated from the surface and the new pipe placed into this.

Minimising impact on the community

Melbourne Water and our construction partner National Australian Pipelines will work closely with local residents to minimise impacts during the works. Local residents will be given advance notification of any works within close vicinity of their home or business, and it is anticipated that these works will not impact on water supply in the local area.
