The following forms and permits are available from Melbourne Water:

Bird Watching and Fishing Permits

Access to Melbourne Water's Western Treatment Plant for bird watching or fishing is available between 6.30am and 9pm, seven days a week and is by permit only. Apply for a Bird Watching and/or Fishing Permit.

There is no bird watching permit access to the Eastern Treatment Plant. Access is only available through bird counts organised by Birds Australia. The duration of the bird count is approximately four hours. A vehicle is required to participate. For further information on bird counts contact Birds Australia.

Construction near Melbourne Water assets

Approval is required for any planting, utility installations or construction near Melbourne Water underground assets or easements. The Construction near Melbourne Water assets section details the application process.

Drainage Feasibility Study Request

Before undertaking development of land it is sometimes appropriate for developers to seek Melbourne Water's assistance in determining the most appropriate drainage works that would be required to service a development. Download the Drainage Feasibility Study request form (PDF, 19kb).

Fencing Application

We contribute to the cost of a standard paling fence where our land borders properties (in accordance with the Fences Act 1968). To apply for this contribution complete an online fencing application or download the fencing application form (PDF, 34kb) and post or fax it to us.

Flood Level Information Request

Melbourne Water has completed extensive mapping of the Melbourne area and has detailed information in relation to 100 year flood events.

This information is supplied to Melbourne's retail water companies and other authorised agencies, who can help you determine whether a property is likely to be affected by flooding. To obtain flood level information on the property of interest please click here.

Melbourne Water collects and analyses an extensive amount of hydrological data in the Melbourne area. Download the Hydrological Information Request form (PDF, 49kb).

Stormwater Connection

Melbourne Water requires all new stormwater connections to be made to the local council system. Where this is not possible a stormwater connection application must be made to Melbourne Water. Connecting to the Stormwater system details the application process.
